When your mind spins

Tops

Photo by Melanie Brown. Used with permission.

Worlds whirl

 —fragments of stories—

too many for small hands

or grown-up minds

to keep in motion.

Sun lights on arm’s tip

a single slat in the chair’s back

calling “Come.

Come.

Rest.

The spinning spheres

—minds, lives, galaxies—

are held

 upheld

 held together

by wiser, gentler hands.”

My mind is spinning day and night – what a wonderful Heartbeat reminder! The photo added more than 1000 extra words to the verbal reflection. Bob Date: Mon, 31 Mar 2014 17:53:53 +0000 To: rdmorris@sympatico.ca

Thanks Bob. Yes, it was Melanie’s beautiful photo that I really wanted to share this week. I’ve had a copy sitting on my desk since she gave it to me in class last Wednesday and I’ve been so appreciating the reminders in it as I’ve been working hard on writing and trying to sort my way through fragments of stories.

A beautiful reminder (both photo and poem) to rest and leave the spinning thoughts, details, fragments to the only One who can hold us in his hand (Jn. 10:28,29), hold us up (Isa. 41:10) and hold us together! (Col. 1:17).

Thanks, Mom. Glad you added these Scriptures here. I so love the thought of God holding us (. . . in case you hadn’t noticed! 🙂

o so lovely, sweet & simple & just what I need as my world spins out of control… He holds it firm right now. He caught me & keeps me.

Beautiful imagery- both in poetic form and photography- I love the contemplative look on the child– and all those whirl-tops! As the world around us seems to spin faster and faster– the chair- a rocking chair- I hear a lullaby– Someone wants to sooth me– hold me close– help me rest in His Peace.
